KARL FRANZ UPDATE
The problem is that Karl Franz should have been given an update when the Empire was reworked the first time, just like CA did with Grimgor and Thorgim in the Greenskin and Dwarf reworks.

Ideally, Empire would need a free update coming with a minor character and a couple of DLC's: one for Middenheim & the other coming with the two chaps mentioned above. Besides, we still need Valten and Luthor Huss as playable, since they both are true defenders of Men and Faith.
KARL FRANZ PLUS
They are the main shield against Chaos in the setting, plus Storm of Chaos and the End Times were heavily based on the war between them. I do expect an update and a small rework for the hummies during game III. Though that might be a special case due to the poor state Beastmen were in back then, making their stronger options feel like a necessity. His campaign is harder (at least I think so) than Karl Franz's but I don't think anyone would say that his campaign is made obsolete by the others.īut of course it's a tricky challenge for the developer, because sometimes LL penalties can really hold a faction's popularity back if they happen to go too far, such as with Morghur pre-rework who hardly got much play due to how he made minotaurs, the strongest (and more fun according to a lot of people) units, way more costly. I think the issue then is that some LLs should become more unique in a way that doesn't involve pure strong buffs. I'm sure all those people who sagely told me that this game needs easy campaigns to appeal to clueless and unskilled players to widen its appeal will now make a showing and tell OP that the game also needs campaigns for people who don't need or want excessive hand-holding and pampering. Or maybe vanguard deployment for all cavalry to create some interesting tactical options? Increased speed, charge bonus, maybe melee defence or ward save so they could stay in melee a bit longer? I don’t know from a lord perspective but I would say a cavalry focus might be a good differentiation? After all the Reiksguard as well as the Royal Altdorf Gryphites are directly associated with him? I don’t think it needs to be anything big, just a pass over his skills to set him apart from the other LLs. Give him a form advanced Empire management mechanic that can modify how regions, provinces, if not the whole Empire works when manages to take over every Empire province.
Im interested in hearing other ideas that would make Franz a more interesting choice for campaign. Franz should have recruiting level buffs for his personal army and heroes at least. Wulfhart has a very thematic playstyle he spreads to his soldiers. Volkmar is buffing three units of limited utility and breathing new life into them. Gelt makes all his troops tougher and gunpowder units have more punch. Meanwhile Franz only has one buff and it's +8 to Leadership. Empire is one of the most popular factions and even though it only has 4 Legendary Lord options (5 if you count Todbringer) each Lord brings some very fun and interesting buffs to their personal armies. Speaking from a campaign perspective and with the Volkmar update Karl Franz extremely boring and arguably non factor Lord effect really needs an update.
